Author, Speaker, Screenwriter.
Writer for the page, the stage, and the screen.
Max Dickins is the author of Billy No Mates, which has been translated into multiple languages and is currently being adapted for television. On the page, his writing has been featured in the Observer, Sunday Times, Daily Mail, and GQ. On the stage, Max’s critically acclaimed play Man on the Moor has toured nationally. On the airwaves, his radio show on Absolute Radio was nominated for a Sony Award. While on screen, Dickins has appeared numerous times on BBC One’s Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, and has hobnobbed variously with Tyra Banks, Richard Branson and (less good) the candidates of The Apprentice. Oh, and once he accidentally got addicted to Groupon deals: this sad (if quite amusing) experience spawning his first book, My Groupon Adventure.
Max started his career as a radio presenter for Absolute Radio, where he was nominated for a prestigious Sony Radio Award. In 2011, he moved into stand-up comedy and spent 6 years working professionally on the circuit, performing thousands of gigs and three hour-long solo shows at the Edinburgh Fringe.
An in-demand speaker and host, he has MCed and given speeches at corporate events for brands including Esquire, Accenture, and PWC. He was also once presenter of Voom Room a magazine TV show around Virgin Media Business’ Voom Competition – think Dragon’s Den but with Sir Richard Branson! You can watch Max’s presenting show reel here.
Speaking and Presenting
As a playwright, Max is the author of four plays. ‘The Trunk,’ named by Theatre Weekly as one of their top ten theatre shows of 2016. ‘The Man on the Moor,’ which went on to complete a national tour in 2018. ‘Kin,’ published by Samuel French in July 2018. And his latest play, ‘Love Them to Death,’ winner of Stagey Place’s Award for Best Show at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe festival.
Max continues to perform improvised comedy all over the country with the acclaimed troupe The Committee and many others.
